Well, my kids are too little to surf the internet, but we’ve always said that when the time comes, besides setting up filters, we’ll keep the computer in the living room or kitchen so one of us can always be there observing what’s going on.

We have a Windows password that only my husband and I know. As far as Internet goes, they aren’t allowed to “surf” yet, being only 9 and 10 years old. The computer games we have are accessed on the desktop or via CD ROM so the children don’t need to get online.

I monitor where they go but more importantly we talk about internet safety.I actually have had a friend go in to one of the sites they use with chat and tried to get them to give up info like real name,location,phone number,ect.My kids passed the test and refused to give any info out as well as came to me.

My daughter is 10 and is not allowed on the internet unless it is needed for school. When she does use it she must be at the dinning room table and I sneak a peak every time I walk by. In the next year or so we will have to have a lesson on personal information, strangers, and etc to prep her for web browsing.
