If you are a mom like me, I am sure that you are always on the lookout for ways to make your children’s lives easier as well as your own especially when it comes to school work. Being a mom of five children, I have truly had my share of helping with homework,(space) studying for tests and quizzes. I must admit, with all the technology available, it has gotten a tad bit easier on some levels as it relates to homework, however, there is still that major dark cloud that hangs over each child’s head, and that’s the dreaded state testing.
I have three adult children that have had their share of before and after-school tutoring in preparation for the state test. It was a stressful time, to say the least as well as, lots of running around and adjusting schedules so that everyone would be picked up and dropped off on time. I now have a 2nd grader and a 7th grader, and we are not looking forward to the stress of the importance of passing the state test or being held from graduating. I recently found out about a website called TestingMom.com that offers test prep online for state testing. In case you are not familiar with them, let me tell you more about them.
TestingMom.com is an online educational program that’s designed by parents for parents and their children Pre-K through 8th grade. The program was created to help children develop a lifelong love of learning. One thing that I love is that the website features fun skill-building games, challenging learning activities and test prep materials for all 50 states (including state standards and Common Core). Parents can customize each child’s program which is perfect for moms like me that have more than one child in school. You easily choose practice questions for state standard, Common Core and IQ tests, assessments. There is also material for entry into gifted and talented programs as well as testing required for private school admissions. The thing that I was really excited to see was that there is an array of education programs to help your child in reading, math, vocabulary, etc.
My son is transitioning this year from a private Christian elementary to a public school that has a very rigorous curriculum as they are the #1 school system in the state. I must admit, he has had to make an adjustment, to say the least. Although he is getting support for math which is the class that he is experiencing the most difficulty, I have still been looking into possibly signing him up for after-school tutoring.
I’m happy to see there is a more convenient alternative available to my family. With all of the other activities such as dance, (space) sports, etc. the last thing that we need is another after-school drop-off. The ability to access quality material online offers much more flexibility for our family.
I was happy to see so many positive testimonies from parent’s who’s children use the TestingMom.com website. Check out this video and here one for yourself.
